Atari 2600 - A2600
Troubles is a fast paced shooter game. You are the pilot of a ship located in chamber seven tunnels. Your ship can only move up and down along the vertical corridor connecting the tunnels. However, you are not alone. A variety of enemies, traveling through these tunnels, are aimed at destroying you. So the ultimate goal of "Trouble" is to zoom up and down the center of the alley and blast the aliens as they streak past. Keep shooting and moving and you will survive to live another day! As you move quickly up and down, you must also fire your weapons to the left or right. Part of the intensity of this game comes from the fact that you can't stay in one place for too long. If you are, the indestructible enemy will come flying at you, forcing you to move forward again.
Enemy ships you will encounter in each of the seven tunnels travel at various unique speeds. The faster given the opponent's moves, the more points you get if you shoot them. Sometimes when you destroy one of the enemy ships, a flashing orb will appear at the far end of the tunnel. This is the only exception where you are not limited in your vertical path. In such a situation, you are allowed to move down the tunnel to repair it. If you grab it quickly, it's worth the Bonus Points. If you hesitate, it will hatch into the fast moving missiles and destroy you if you get in his direction. When you start the game of turmoil, you are given five ships. If you can destroy all the aliens on the level, you will get the ship bonus. In addition to your current ship, you can carry as many as six reserve ships at one time. You will lose the ship if you come into contact with any of the passing foreigners. There are nine levels in the game, each with many waves to complete, and each one is faster and more difficult than the previous level. It is considered by many to be one of the best 20th Century Fox games.
