Video Pinball
Atari 2600 - A2600

Released for the Atari 2600 video game console in 1980, video pinball experience real-life pinball game simulations with shooter balls, flippers, bumpers and spinners. The game also implements a simulation of the real physics of a real ball. The game also features a unique rollover bonus with the Atari Inc. logo on the game board; hitting the logo four times results in an extra ball. It was programmed by Bob Smith.

Much of the game involves learning how to perform certain functions, such as launching or activating flippers, with an Atari 2600 joystick. Moving the joystick down pulls the pinball piston back while pressing the joystick button throws the ball into the playing field. The left and right flippers are not activated by moving the joystick left or right. The ball can be twirled (as in gently nudging a table in real life) by holding down the joystick button and pushing the button in a specific direction.
