NeoGeo (NG)

Neo-Geo is a gaming system created by the Japanese company SNK in 1989. It was best known as an arcade system, and was also released as a separate game console (console). The slot machine system (MVS - Multi Video System) differed from the set-top box (AES - Advanced Entertainment System) by the presence of slots for installing up to 6 ROM cartridges at the same time. The console appeared in general sale a year later (in 1990) and did not have such popularity as a slot machine, due to its high cost for the end user. Even later (in 1994) a version of the set-top box with a CD drive ("Neo Geo CD") was released, which also did not gain popularity.

The games released for this console offered users fairly high-quality 2D graphics and high-quality sound.

The gaming system was based on a 16-bit Motorola 68000 (12 MHz) processor (or its clones) and an 8-bit Z80 (4 MHz), which was used as a sound coprocessor. A 15-channel Yamaha YM2610 sound chip could optionally be used to create sound effects.
