Game Pit Fighter (Atari 7800 - a7800)
Pit Fighter

Pit-Fighter is an arcade game from Atari Games released in 1990. It was revolutionary new, due to the fact that all the fighters were simply digitized, and they look like they are alive. Similar technology was later used in other games such as Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam.

There are three controllable fighters in Pit-Fighter: Buzz, a hefty wrestler, Ty, a kickboxing champion, and Kato, a third-degree black belt. Opposing them are: Executioner, Southside Jim, Angel, CC Rider, Mad Miles, Heavy Metal, Chainman Eddie and Masked Warrior.

Pit-Fighter was ported to Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Mega Drive/Genesis, Sega Master System, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Super Nintendo, PC (DOS) in 1991, Atari Lynx, Nintendo Game Boy in 1992 and Tiger (19??). There is also a Pit-Fighter prototype for the Atari 7800. An arcade version of Pit-Fighter appeared on the compilations Midway Arcade Treasures 2 (2004) for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox, and Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition (2006) for the PC.

Atari 7800: Expect digitalized, muscular fighters from the game? And figs to you! This Pit-Fighter prototype shows off something like Double Dragon on one screen. Ostoooo, dated 1992. The guys from Classic Gaming Expo dug up the game on an old hard drive. According to the docs dated 5/14/93, Pit-Fighter was in the early stages of development. The cost of the project was estimated at $65,000, but only $30,000 was paid when the developer agreed to stop developing the project.
