Virtual Boy (VBOY)

The Virtual Boy is the first home game console created by Nintendo to be able to display "real" 3D graphics. Most gaming systems used a perspective projection onto a flat screen to create an apparent volume. Virtual Boy allows you to create a more accurate illusion of volume using the parallax effect. It uses technology similar to a "head-up display" (so-called "virtual reality helmet") - the user immerses their face in a pair of rubber shock absorbers on the front of the device, and two special monochrome (black and red) projectors transmit the image separately for each eye. The system was released on July 21, 1995 in Japan, and on August 14 of the same year in the US, for about $180. However, it did not arouse interest among buyers, despite the constant price reduction.
