Supervision (SV) - Super Nintendo games

Watara Supervision is a fourth-generation 8-bit miniature video game system released by Hong Kong-based Watara in 1992. It was released under license by almost all companies in the USA and European countries under a number of other names.

The unique version of Supervision was seen in 1992 and resembled the Game Boy known at that time - a rectangular vertical case with a cross, 2 diagonally located round control keys (A and B) and 2 elongated narrow select and start / keys. pause. The provided model consisted of 2 parts - a screen and a cartridge connector on top and a control button on the bottom. When striving, it was possible to replace the state of the upper part with respect to the lower one, bending it at a small angle. This version was released by Tai-Kerr in Hong Kong and China (Tai-Kerr Boy), in Denmark by Vini Spil (Vini Supervision), by Quickshot in England (under the name Quickshot Supervision), by Hartung in Germany and Holland (Hartung Supervision). ) and Audiosonic (Audio Sonic Supervision) in France,

Another model of the console - GB-2000, more similar in appearance to the Game Boy, was released by Audiosonic, Vini Spil and Watara itself. The 3rd model, the 9600, with a body similar to the GB-2000 but with smoother edges, was released by Magnus and Videojet. This model was available in three colors - white, blue and yellow.

Supervision was quite technically advanced for its time. An 8-bit 65C02 microprocessor operating at a clock frequency of 4 MHz was used as a microprocessor. Screen with a volume of 6.1×6.1 cm with a resolution of 160×160 pixels, monochrome, displaying 4 colors of a grayish LCD display. All this worked from 4 AA batteries or a 6-volt AC / DC adapter. On the body of the console there were connectors for a cartridge, headphones, an adapter and a D-subminiature for connecting 2 consoles and playing together. Apart from this, the volume control was located on the right, and the screen contrast on the left.

The only device released to Supervision is TV Link - with the support of which it was possible to connect the console to the TV set, like a game console. Supervision came with Crystball game (clone of Arkanoid), 4 batteries and headphones.

Ignoring the technical superiority over the Game Boy and the more low cost ($50 for the console itself and from $8.95 to $14.95 for the cartridge), Watara Supervision did not become famous. Not least because of the low number and contrast of games. Including with the help of third-party creators, only 70 games were released for it, without any special bestsellers. As such, Supervision implementations were discontinued as early as 1996.
