The GameCom version of Resident Evil 2 largely follows the structure and history of its console counterpart. In this version, the player controls Leon, placing him in the direction he wants and making him move forward while fighting the zombies. Leon can only be moved on three horizontal planes, like in a 2D side view game, but with a pseudo-3D effect. Each non-scrolling location contains a different zombie, and when they are dead, Leon moves to a new screen. He has access to the inventory to switch between weapons. There is support for options such as the inventory menu on the touch screen, in addition to the game keeping track of the time the player has spent in the game.
