High-octane action in your hands! Duke Nukem must save the planet. Pull out your shotgun and start shooting while the alien hurricane shoots you in the head. Will you survive? Only if you can think fast and shoot faster. Remember, this is a "frag or be fragmented" world.
The GameCom version of Duke Nukem 3D feels more like a dungeon crawl than an FPS due to GameCom's hardware limitations. The player can only move the Duke forward, backward, left, or right, one screen at a time. By pressing B or C, the player can turn Duke to shoot left or right, but cannot turn him to face that direction and move.
The game is divided into three episodes (LA Meltdown, Lunar Apocalypse and Shrapnel City) consisting of a total of twelve missions based on the original missions of the same name, which can be accessed via passwords (given upon death of the player). There are four types of weapons available (boot, pistol, shotgun and RPG) and four different types of enemies: assault squads, pig cops, enforcers and octobrains. You can collect items such as armor and keycards, as well as first-aid kits and ammunition. There are four difficulty levels, and the game also features Duke's digitized one-liners and other speech.
