Sequel to the Mega Man series with a completely new storyline. In the year 21XX, scientists unearth the latest development of Dr. Light, a Mega Man X robot with human senses and intelligence. Soon, overjoyed scientists are setting up mass production of such robots for the benefit of mankind. However, the robots gradually begin to rebel and commit crimes for unknown reasons, and soon their leader declares war on humanity. X is in a hurry to rein in the rebels, in which the mysterious robot Zero will help him. It all starts with a level on the freeway of the future. We play as X, a blue helmeted robot with a cannon on its arm that looks like an upgraded Mega Man. He can charge a cannon, as well as slide and jump on walls, climbing up them in this way. After fighting to the end of the level, we meet a robot on fur named Vile. He easily defeats X, but then Zero, a red blond robot with a tail of hair sticking out of the back of his helmet, comes to the rescue, and Vile is forced to retreat. After that, a map opens with eight locations that you need to go through to get to the last boss. The game is far ahead of the Megaman series on the NES. X gradually develops, finding not only new weapons, but also abilities (they are "recorded" in X in hidden special capsules); also with the finding of upgrades health increases. Levels have become much more diverse and branched. So, in a winter location, open areas are replaced by icy corridors, after which you can climb into a walking robot that attacks with powerful punches; at the airport level, you will have to jump on towers, flying platforms and funiculars; there are several paths in the sea level, on one of which the boss is waiting, after which you can find an upgrade. There are a lot of secrets in the locations (you can even find an upgrade in the game that allows you to shoot a blue ball from Street Fighter). Everything in the game is related to the story, and in addition, the game itself has become much more spectacular and memorable. The graphics and music don't disappoint either.
