The protagonist in the game "Boulder Dash", the brave Rockford gold digger, must dig many kilometers of tunnels in search of diamonds, skillfully dealing with oncoming unfriendly creatures and dodging stones falling on his head. There is a danger of dying from an underground explosion, and being walled up by a blockage or an uncontrollably overgrown amoeba colony.
"Boulder Dash" (another name for Rockford) is known to every self-respecting gamer, since this game was released for Apple II, MSX, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Atari 400/800 computers in the first year of its life, and later ported to ColecoVision, NES, Acorn Electron, PC, Amstrad CPC and many other platforms. It is noteworthy that "Boulder Dash" is one of the few computer games ported to arcade machines!
