An evil cold confronts Batman and Robin. The sinister Mr. Freeze intends to remake Gotham City in the image of his cold heart. Encouraged by the devilish Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze plans to steal all of the city's diamonds. Playing as Batman or Robin, your mission is to put these criminals in the fridge!
Batman & Robin is based on the 1997 film of the same name, in which the two main characters team up to stop the evil Mr. Freeze from turning Gotham into an ice city.
The game is primarily a side-scroller. In Brawl levels, players can play as either Batman or Robin and choose two items from a list of five to take with them: batarangs/throwing birds and gas grenades (each with limited ammo), a grappling hook and, for special obstacles, an ice cape and ice blades. The goal of each side-scrolling level is to move towards the exit of the level while pummeling hordes of enemies with punches, kicks or thrown weapons. The second level ends with a boss fight against movie villains Bane and Poison Ivy.
At the third level, the game switches to a first-person shooting gallery. Players must take out enemies with batarangs or, if they get close, with kicks by moving the crosshair. The fourth level is seen from the side again, but the chosen hero climbs the wall on his way to Mr. Freeze's lair, avoiding rocks thrown by the bad guys to reach the final boss fight against Freeze.
