The player must accumulate money to enter races and research the best racing equipment. The player must pass the Group C division, Formula 3000, and eventually Formula One. To do this the player must practice very hard and win all the races in the circuit. It all starts with strange courses, but it eventually leads back to the familiar Formula One courses once the player has won all Group C and Formula 3000 races. Once a player is in Formula One, they must choose one of three teams. Engines to choose from include Ford, Honda and Ferrari.
In addition to all this, the player must race all courses in a specific order and can no longer choose the order in which to complete these races. The Formula One part of the game uses the team's season position system in addition to maintaining individual race times. The objective of the game changes from simply winning the race to acquiring as many points as possible in order to win the championship.
Bumping up the car, frequently using the pit stop, and inadvertent mistakes will wipe out championship hopes, just like in real Formula One. Not even cheat codes can guarantee the top rankings in the overall standings, only winning individual races and using strong overtaking traffic while keeping the body and tires of the chosen player's vehicle.
