Game Hyperchase (Vectrex - vect)
Hyperchase

The player controls a Formula One racing car whose goal is to advance in the rankings and either have the best time or accumulate as many points as possible depending on the game chosen.

In Game 1, the player has an unlimited number of cars and the goal is to complete the course as quickly as possible. In Game 2, the player gets 5 cars and the goal is to score as many points as possible.

In both games, collisions with the edge of the track or other vehicles result in fatalities and the player is forced to start from zero speed.

  • In the game, 1 score is the amount of time in seconds it takes to complete the entire course.
  • In game 2, points are awarded for miles traveled by the player as well as for speed.
  • Hyperchase is one of the first 12 games released worldwide for Vectrex.
  • While only two racing games were released for Vectrex, Hyperchase predated Pole Position by a couple of months.
  • Hyperchase is one of only two original games to take advantage of Vectrex's analog control capabilities. The other is the second Star Hawk game.
