Game Pole Position (Vectrex - vect)
Pole Position

Pole Position is a car simulator arcade game later ported to many game consoles and home computers. In this game, the player drives a race car to qualify for a Formula 1 race at the Fuji Circuit. After a successful qualification, the multi-car race begins.

In fact, Pole Position set the standard for racing simulations for a while: rear-facing views, AI-powered opponent cars, a time limit that pushes the player to speed up, and tracks that replicate real race tracks.

The game was one of the first examples of product placement in video games, with billboards along the track advertising real companies and products. On the track you can see billboards for Pepsi, Canon, 7-Eleven, Dentyne, Centipede, Marlboro and Martini & Rossi.

The popularity of the game made her a participant in many television programs. For the first time, the game became a participant in a TV show on the MTV channel, and later Pole Position becomes a regular participant in game TV shows. Based on the game, an animated television series of the same name was released.

The player can choose from 4 races (in ascending order of difficulty): Practice Run, Malibu Grand Prix, Namco Speedway or Atari Grand Prix. You can also select the number of circles from 1 to 8.
