Game BrainDead 13 (Atari Jaguar - jag)
BrainDead 13

Brain Dead 13 is an interactive movie computer game developed by ReadySoft and released for DOS in 1995, and later ported to game consoles: Playstation, CDi, Sega Saturn and others. Like Dragon's Lair and Space Ace, Brain Dead 13 was one of the first interactive movies that wasn't a laserdisc port of the game.

Young geek Lance is called in to fix a computer in a scary ramshackle castle. After fixing a large supercomputer, Lance learns of a diabolical plan to take over the world. Lance is soon haunted by Fritz, the psychotic servant of Dr. Nero Neurosis, the main villain of the story (it's the brain out of the body).

The player must guide Lance through the castle, defeat Dr. Neurosis, and escape.

The game provides more opportunities for exploration of the world than previous interactive games, as it has crossroads. In view of this, the player himself can look for a way to the "brain chamber".

Just like in Dragon's Lair, the player must react quickly to events. Otherwise, he will be killed by Fritz or something in the room where he is. However, the player has an infinite number of retries: after the death cutscene, a resurrection cutscene is shown where Lance jumps out of a coffin, bleeds, etc. The death scenes are quite violent, but are cartoonish and not overly bloody.

The game received mixed reviews from critics. Some critics found the game's design to be poor, the gameplay to be based on trial and error, the puzzles to be illogical, and the sound and animation quality to be lacking. A reviewer for Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine, on the contrary, noted the bright and clear graphics, as well as the humor of the game. On the WorldVillage website, the game is called a masterpiece in its genre.
