A remake of the game was released for the Atari Jaguar in 1994. Unlike the Atari Lynx version, it was possible to change the color of the player's car and weather conditions.
The Checkered Flag game supports up to 6 players.
There were also plans to release a sequel (Checkered Flag 2) for Jaguar, but the game was never released. A Game Boy Advance version of the game was planned for release in 2005 by Destination Software, but was cancelled.

The Jaguar version used polygonal 3D graphics reminiscent of Atari's 1988 Hard Drivin' slot machine. By 1994, the graphics looked dated compared to SEGA's Virtua Racing.
The 2D graphics of the Lynx version were similar to the Atari 2600 game Pole Position with some improvements.
