The game is a remake of the classic Defender and includes a ported version of the original game as well as its updated versions: Defender Plus and Defender 2000.
The playing field can scroll left and right (in Defender 2000 - up and down). Alien ships constantly arrive in the playing area. They descend to the surface of the planet, taking "humanoids" from it. The player's task is to destroy the aliens and save the humanoids.
The Defender Plus version differs from the original mainly in psychedelic graphics. The Defender 2000 version adds vertical scrolling, weapon enhancements, bonus levels, improved graphics, and high-speed gameplay.
A reviewer for Electric Playground praised the game's musical score, as well as the port of the "classic version" (which he deemed superior to the original); among the game's shortcomings, he cited the not-so-responsive controls, too-fast game speed, and the large size of the ship in the Defender 2000 version as making the game too difficult.
