Game 3-D Block (Dendy - nes)
3-D Block

3D Block is a 3D Tetris game with a top view of the bottom of a glass of figures. Adding a third coordinate significantly complicates the gameplay. There are several versions of the game from 1989 and 1991, differing among themselves in the functions of the cartridge, which allow or not to make additional visual effects, which are currently not supported by emulators.

The rules in the 3D Block game are the same as those of its flat counterpart, only here everything happens in three planes. Some variability in the rotation of shapes has been added, but the big minus is that because of the third dimension it is very difficult to understand the heap of shapes on the screen.

3D Block is an unusual three-dimensional tetris - in it you see the figures not from the side, as in the classic version, but from above, due to which the complexity of the game increases significantly. Before you is like a deep well, to the bottom of which various blocks fall. In terms of game functionality, the game does not differ from ordinary Tetris - falling figures can be rotated and accelerated, and the overall speed of the game increases over time. Whether you like this game or not, it’s hard to say in advance, but at least it’s worth trying to play it.

The concept of the game is quite simple. Remember Tetris? - Yes. Then imagine that with an extra dimension. So basically, there are still blocks falling step by step, building up on top of each other, unless you do something against IT. But this time, you see the blocks from above, and they fall away from you, into a hole 5 x 5 units wide and 10 units deep. If you already know Tetris 3D, don't read this entire paragraph as you already know what this game is about.

In order to prevent the screen from filling up and the blocks from reaching from above - which means GAME OVER - , you must position the blocks in such a way that they fill the entire plane parallel to the bottom of the playing area. It is also
possible to fill two or three planes at the same time with suitable block(s), of course, but this is already quite a challenge. Such a completely filled plane causes that plane to disappear and the blocks above the disappeared ones to fall down one step.

You have a 500 second timer (countdown) for each stage. For each plane you make disappear you get 10 points, and for every 4 planes eliminated you will advance one stage. Here you will get the remaining seconds on the timer as a bonus
to your points of view. However, the behavior of the blocks changes at each stage - they usually become more complex, for example, the blocks fall faster.
